Uncle Louie is an independent film based on the screenplay by Joseph Izzo and Joseph Mangelli. The film is a dark comedy…an urban fairy tale. It deals with hope, despair and family secrets. This Indie Film invokes the slight-of-hand of Voodoo, Christianity and Eastern Mysticism and answers, or presumes to answer, the riddles of the cosmos. It is set in Modern-day California, but its roots are firmly embedded in Buffalo, New York and Northern New Jersey Italian-American culture.

Benny Miccicci is in trouble with a demonic loan-shark. He is reluctant to get his girlfriend, Bernice, involved in his dilemma, however she comes to his rescue by invoking help from the dark side. Uncle Louie, a notorious hit-man long dispatched from this earth, is summoned to help his hapless nephew and take charge of his situation….sort of.

Uncle Louie was a labor of love engaged in by a dedicated cast and crew who made mistakes, learned lessons, but never failed to persevere. It has been awarded Awards of Merit at both The Accolade Film Competition and Indie Fest. We are currently learning about the “take no prisoners” aspect of trying to get our film distributed. Indie films are not what they used to be. The odds of actually landing a bona fide distributor without big name stars and a seven figure budgets is exponentially difficult…. But we made it this far and will not give up until someone out there sees our baby.
